Oscar Rabin in France

In September 2010 in France within the program «Year of Russia in France and France in Russia» two personal exhibitions of one of the famous modern artist Oscar Rabin were started at once. On September 11 his exposition opened in an ancient castle of baron De Kursel in Montigny-les-Metz. On the 15th the vernisage of the artist took place in the Parisian Gallery of Dina Vierny.

Rabin, an expressionist, nonconformist and the founder of the «Lianozovsky group» and the participant of well-known "bulldozer exhibition» has presented more than 100 author's works, drawings, archival photos, video and movies of the Soviet epoch. The exhibitions attracted hundreds of visitors many of which are long time admirers of his artists’ talent.

Oscar Rabin's creative work accurately reflects the era of the 1960's. His art reflects the severe truth of the life spiced up with witty details of the time such as: newspaper clippings, electrical sockets and herring. A distinctive feature of Oskar Rabin’s style is limiting laconicism of color and the form, but at the same time it is the paradoxical combination of incongruous in a single canvas. Because of the courageous texture of genres, artistic techniques, and images, the artist work has been recognized world wide.
